Tor Browser unexpectedly exited error on macOS

OS: MacOS 15.2 Beta (24C5073e) M2 chip
Tor: 14.0.1 and 14.0a9
Hello, I am always getting this error no matter what I do.
“Tor unexpectedly exited. This might be due to a bug in Tor itself, another program on your system, or faulty hardware. Until you restart Tor, Tor Browser will not be able to reach any websites. If the problem persists, please send a copy of your Tor Log to the support team.”

I rebooted my laptop, reinstalled Tor, tried bridges - nothing helps. Please help.

Restarting Tor will not close your browser tabs.

I believe you’re facing this same bug,

The tor daemon for aarch64 macOS (M1 and friends) will crash when visiting some onion-service sites, resulting in an inoperable Tor Browser (you can restart Tor Browser to work around this for now, but the particular failing onion-service sites will be inaccessible). We have developed a fix for the issue (more details in the bug report) and this should be totally fixed by the next Tor Browser release, later this month.

Interesting thing is that last week all worked well.

Only latest versions of Tor Browser (14.0.1 and 14) are affected. This will be fixed in the next version of Tor Browser.

I use old (2015) MacBook Pro with MacOS Monterey version 12.7.6. Cannot upgrade to another MacOS as capped out. 8 GB memory.

What’s wrong with MacOS Tor browser that always crash whenever I load the onion sites with “memory hogging” images or pages, even with multiple tabs?

Because I’m so annoyed with the frequent browser crash I had to downgrade to old Tor browser which is 13.5.9 version.

Tor project’s bug fix to address this is appreciated. See below description.

@cyberdogg, I believe this is the same issue as reported on: Tor Browser unexpectedly exited error on macOS
I’m merging both topics.

The issue will be fixed in the next Tor Browser Stable release (14.0.2).

This issue is fixed in Tor Browser 14.0.2. Please update.
