X/Twitter reload loop when attempting to download account data

I am not sure whether this is a bug of the browser or of the website, but I encountered it with the Mullvad Browser and Tor Browser so here I am

Operating System

Windows 11

Tor Browser version

15.0.3

Tor Browser Security Level

Standard

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Visit x.com
  2. Login to account (account has TOTP 2FA enabled)
  3. Click on More then Settings
  4. Accounts then click on Download your data which has the link “https://x.com/settings/download_your_data“
  5. Enter password when prompted

Then the problem occurs which is endless page reloads

I encounter this issue too on Mullvad Browser 15.0.3 on Standard Security Level

Any thoughts?

Have you tried to do this through Firefox/Chrome? I’m not sure Tor developers are looking out for this use case. Firstly, X (Twitter) uses a .com domain not .onion and secondly you lose all your privacy benefits if you log in

I haven’t tried reproducing it on Firefox or Chromium based browsers yet. I mostly use Mullvad Browser and came across the issue using it. I was able to reproduce the issue on the Tor Browser so I guess there’s nothing specific about the Mullvad Browser that causes the issue.

I don’t know how to close a topic on Discourse but I’ll find how if people on this forum thinks this is out of scope
