Why doesn't Tor Browser ship with UBlock origin?

So I just switched from Firefox to Mullvad Browser because of the recent AI drama, and I was a little surprised to see that it comes shipped with UBlock. I know that the reason it’s not recommended to install extensions is because of fingerprinting, but Mullvad has the same goal of anonymization (to a lesser degree) as Tor Browser.

Plus if Tor Browser shipped with UBlock then having UBlock wouldn’t be finger-printable (like with noscript). So what is the reason for not shipping with UBlock?

It’s under investigation, see here and here. It is not a trivial matter and, for example, UBO Lite is also under consideration as an alternative. One problem is users can customize UBO and of course as soon as you do that you open yourself to being fingerprinted by a site which tests what is blocked and what is not. This violates a core principal of Tor Browser that all users must appear as indistinguishable from one another.

This said, I’m a strong advocate that UBO integration should be a priority myself. I wonder whether a user poll or something similar may be desirable to see what the user base thinks. Presently I use 2 desktop browsers; regular Tor Browser and another with the UBO extension. I only use the latter on sites where anonymity is not critical and the ads are driving me nuts.

Thanks.

But this is Nr. 1 customer wish. Some sort of read-only Ublock Origin config?

In Mullvad Browser there is also Ublock Origin pre-installed
