This is an irregular and random question: when I use Startpage search engine to search something, will sometimes navigate to a “Connection Failed” page, “https://localhost” in the address bar.
The detailed error message is like this:
An error occurred while connecting to localhost.
•This site is temporarily unavailable or too busy. Please try again in a few minutes.
•If you are unable to load any web pages, please check the status of your computer’s network connection.
•If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy server, make sure Tor Browser is authorized to access the network.
But when I switch the search engine to Duckduckgo or restart Tor Browser, this problem will be solved but reoccur randomly and from time to time.
I wonder if you have encountered the same problem? This bothers me a lot and I hope the Tor Project can fix this soon, thank you.
The latest iOS Onion Browser will encounter a problem when using Startpage search engine.
After I type what I want to search for in the address bar and press enter, the browser navigate to the “start page” of the search engine “Startpage” instead of the page containing my search results.
But when I switch the search engine to Duckduckgo, everything is going smoothly. I can go directly to the page containing the search results.
I know onion browser’s bug report is not here, but I don’t know where to report. Anyone who knows, please help me to report this issue to the onion browser team.
Heads up: I’ve merged these two bug reports into the one thread since they both deal with the same issue
I don’t have any specific updates besides what @thorin’s aleady shared, but thanks for sharing your feedback @Jack1 – I’ll make sure to include it in our conversations with Startpage.
