Understanding Tor Browser and NoScript: Doubts and Questions

Hi everybody,

I’m new to Tor and, as many other users (I think), one of the hardest things to do is leaving behind some browser extensions. Initially, this thread was also about the use of Bitwarden so I’m continuing in that flow.

I really don’t know how to live without Bitwarden as all my passwords are kept there, so I tried to evaluate how much its installation impacted on browser safety. I used Cover Your Tracks right before and after the installation and I got the same result.
May I consider this as a good evidence that installing Bitwarden extension doesn’t impact on safety?

I couldn’t find any way to have the Bitwarden icon on the bar so even in few minutes it was installed I couldn’t use it to access my passwords as I do on Firefox (it seems the extension doesn’t have the option “pin to the taskbar”, or something like that).

Finally, how do you manage the need of having all your passwords at hands in Tor also? I can’t use the built-in password manager as I want all my passords to be available also outside Tor, not only when I’m browsing the web.

Thanks.

Ciao,
Max

Guess one option would be to change your password-workflow. Personally I want my passwords be stored away from any software with connection to a network. Having enhanced security usually means making compromises on comfort and/or functionality. It is a “classic” trilemma.

                         security
                          / \
                         / \
                        / \
                       / \
                      / \
                     / \
                    / \
                   / \
                  / \
                 / \
                / \
               / \
          comfort ---------------------- functionality

A password manager may introduce new vulnerabilities to your system which are not only “covering your tracks“ related, especially when integrated with your browser. On the other side you browser will regularly have vulnerabilities, so personally I do not want it to be closely attached to my passwords.
