Tor stuck at `Anonymizing overlay network for TCP (multi-instance-master)`

I installed Tor on Debian but can’t get it to connect, even after restarting the service multiple times with sudo systemctl restart tor and rebooting the machine. I used the following torrc setup which previously worked on Fedora 41 (I’ve tried both ORPort 433 and auto IPv4Only:

SOCKSPort 0
Log notice file /var/log/tor/notices.log
ORPort 433
Nickname <name>
ContactInfo <email> AT <domain> dot com
ExitRelay 0

Here is my journalctl --unit tor output:

Ah, that command did give the full details. Relay Search says that the relay is online and from my understanding of the logs, it is running properly!

But why was the relay stopped in the end?

How did you start it?

I ran systemctl restart tor@default

I noticed that the logs don’t go beyond Jan 15 03:50:22.000. I have restarted Tor via systemctl restart tor@defaultand have rebooted the system with sudo reboot but I still can’t seem to get newer logs. Any ideas on how I can get the logs to update?

Use this to make it start after a reboot:

systemctl enable tor.service

If it is not already running, a restart command won’t start anyting afaik, so use:

systemctl start tor.service

I ran both systemctl enable tor.service and systemctl start tor.servicebut cat /var/log/tor/notices.logstill returned the same results and time frame. If the relay doesn’t seem to be functioning properly, I don’t understand why the Relay Search displays it as online and with advertised bandwidth…
