Tor Browser extremely slow

Many months ago I tried to use Tor and it was extremely slow - I mean to the point of not working. The connection takes a few minutes or more, then any website just cranks for literally hours. I tried to reinstall with no change. I used another computer. Different (older) Tor browser. Same result. Similar result after reinstalling too on that second computer.

Using windows.

Not sure if I’m properly uninstalling Tor, followed the ‘delete from desktop’ instructions.

Over the months I’ve tried several different Tor versions for desktop.

Any suggestions?

You should always use the latest version for your OS, as it will include the latest security fixes. The speed problem is not with Tor Browser/the tor network. Right now I am getting a 30Mbps download speed through Tor Browser - and my connection goes over a VPN first.

What sort of speeds do you get with a regular browser? Have you tried your computer on another network (friend/work etc)? Have you tried another location with a different ISP?

100 Mbps regular browser. yes another network, yes another ISP same location (recently switched). All same result. Yes to latest version for my OS.
