Tor Browser as default browser

Is it possible to set Tor Browser as default web Browser ?
I can not find this kind of settings?

This capability has been disabled deliberately and is not recommended: Can I set Tor Browser as my default browser? | Tor Project | Support

I see. If you find time could you please unfold in few words why it would be not recommended ? I just try to find the idea which is behind this ?

In the above link there is a warning:

This means sometimes a website would load in Tor Browser, and sometimes it would load in another browser.

In some parts of the world the consequences of the above behavior could literally be fatal. For example, a user relying on anonymity via Tor clicks on an email link to a web page, expecting it to open in Tor Browser. The web page opens in Firefox. The site in question is censored/illegal/banned & monitored by the authorities. Through their ISP and DNS resolver the user’s IP address becomes known. The user is found, arrested and - lets just say things go badly for them.

Tor Browser is unlike any other browser. It’s design rationale places the guarantee of anonymity (to the best of the designers’ ability) above all else. It does this to protect the class of users referred to above. Many other people use Tor and some may find the result of certain design decisions an inconvenience. In the security/usability trade off security will win out every time. The result is the very high degree of trust required by users who need a browser which absolutely cannot ‘leak’ their identity.

It may be possible to do what you ask. If your anonymity is not absolutely critical, a simple web search will yield guides which purport to show you how to set Tor Browser as the default for your OS. Caveat emptor.

Thank you for your reply. Now I understand. I think I will stick to what I set up now and leave Tor Browser as not a default one.

I try to learn to become as much anonymous as I can. Long way yet to understand all threads.
