Please beware of any extensions or add-ons masquerading as “Tor” or “Onion” software.
They will not do what they advertise and alter your browser fingerprint at best, and install privacy invasive software and break the various privacy-enhancing and anti-browser fingerprinting patches in the Tor Browser at worst.
First in first, this is NOT Mozilla’s addon, it’s just distributed via Mozilla’s Firefox browser addon service.
This extension’s description says This extension offers an easy way to connect your browser to the Tor network with a single click, so even without considering the possibility of modifying browser fingerprints or security vulnerabilities or malicious web extensions, you should not need to install that on Tor browser, because Tor browser already connects to Tor network.
Also, cite description, this extension allows the user to connect to this network through multiple channels simultaneously and hence your connection speed is improved. Judging from this description the extension probably tries to control how Tor functions on your computer, to speed up connection speed over Tor. This is extremely dangerous and unrecommended as carelessness here can leak your circuit information or identity, either by doing it wrong and override protections in Tor’s default settings, or the code’s inherent vulnerabilities allowing an attacker to extract circuit information from the extension. Unless you don’t count on Tor to protect your privacy (but then you’re better served with a VPN), do not install this extension and just keep using Tor browser.
