Roskomnadzor plans to collect from telecom operators the geographic coordinates of all IP addresses they use from September 2024. RKN claims that this will make it possible to more effectively combat DDoS attacks. As follows from the department’s draft order, the creation of a database will make it possible to bring the digital border of the state into line with the physical borders of Russia. However, according to experts, this information will not help in repelling DDoS attacks, except that it will be easier to find those who post information prohibited in Russia, or to specifically block resources in individual regions
