Relay advertised bandwidth speed is far lower than VPS advertised bandwidth

My VPS is supposed to be roughly 1Gbp/s but the Relay Search indicates that the advertised bandwidth is 4.53 MiB/s:

  • Bandwidth rate: 1024 MiB/s
  • Bandwidth burst: 1024 MiB/s
  • Observed bandwidth: 4.53 MiB/s

Why is there such discrepancy?

Please read the documentation. It answers most of your questions. Also tor is currently only single threaded and cpu bound most of the time.

Ah, I wasn’t sure if the Relay Search displayed the total usable or available bandwidth. Good to know that the CPU thread limit also plays a role, hopefully Arti improves speeds. Thank you!
