Odd behaviour in web-page embedded snowflake

I often open a web page with an embedded snowflake eg.:

Relay Love - A Temporary Tor Snowflake Proxy

So people can use that extra snowflake.

Recently - a couple of weeks ago, so around 2025-08-10 - the snowflake lit up green to say there was someone using it for a short period, a few seconds, then went back to purple - standby. This happened over and over again for the day accruing about 20 “Number of users your Snowflake has helped circumvent censorship in the last 24 hours: x “.

Then the same thing happened again a couple of days later. Possibly on other days around those dates, I forget for sure.

It was not at all like normal use which is much more random and users typically stay connected for minutes to hours. I don’t think there was any ‘normal’ usage on these days but I can’t be sure of course - I’m not going to sit watching it all day but I did check in regularly.

I just wonder if others have noticed the same thing? Is it research? A fault which has since been corrected?

Also, what is the proper name for what I’m calling , “web-page embedded snowflakes”?

thanks,

During that time (2025/08/03-2025/08/13) snowflake-02 bridge was down or not working correct.

See this thread to see if it corresponds to what you saw.

Yeah, that looks right. Thanks @BobbyB

After that time I still see lots (but way less) of Timed out waiting for client to open data channel which says failed connection. Not sure if this would register with the Snowflake browser extension version like yours. I also see 2600 connections less than 30 seconds which can’t be a very useful. To me this is the same as a failed connection.
