New Alpha Release: Tor Browser 14.0a7

by morgan | September 27, 2024

Tor Browser 14.0a7 is now available from the Tor Browser download page and also from our distribution directory.

This version includes important security updates to Firefox.

Tor Browser 14.0a7 is our first release-candidate build for Tor Browser 14.0. Tor Browser 14.0a7 should have full feature-parity with the Tor Browser 13.5 series. After this point, we should primarily be focused on QA and bug-fixes. The current plan is to have another release-candidate build next week followed by the Tor Browser 14.0 release on October 14.

Great to see a scheduled date for the TB 14 stable release.

Not an issue for regular TB users, but FYI this release has resulted in browser crashes in my downstream Selenium-driven Tor project. The problem appears to be related to NoScript v11.4.40, as if I replace the NoScript xpi archive with the one from 14.0a6 (v11.4.37) I have no problems. Doing the reverse and using NoScript v11.4.40 in TB 14.0a6 results in browser crashes too. As I say, this is not an issue for regular TB users but it has temporarily broken my automated Tor Browser.

@Noino interesting, can you open a bug on our gitlab if you haven’t already?

There have been many more changes in the meanwhile in the area you’re suspecting. Can you check whether the problem is still present in https://secure.informaction.com/download/betas/noscript-11.4.42rc2.xpi, which has been already submitted to AMO as is waiting for approval as 11.4.42 stable?

Thanks!

@morgan I’d be delighted to. Looks very much like @ma1’s latest has fixed it - I’ve just tried NS 11.4.42rc2 and had 5 straight passes.
