MyFamily on two different VPS providers

I have a quick question about the MyFamily configuration. Should I still set this if I’m running two relays on different VPS providers?

Yes, MyFamily is supposed to link any relays managed by the same person/organization. Take a look at the official FAQ.

The answer is YES you should always configure MyFamily to the relays you own

Configuring MyFamily in a Tor relay helps improve the security and performance of the Tor network, specifically in preventing attacks and ensuring the stability of your relay. Here’s why you should consider configuring MyFamily in your relay:

Preventing Sybil Attacks

MyFamily is a configuration directive used to tell your Tor relay that it is part of a family of relays. When relays are grouped into a “family,” the Tor network can more easily detect and prevent a Sybil attack, where a malicious actor creates many fake relays to control the network.

By associating your relay with a family, you help ensure that Tor can distinguish between legitimate relays and a malicious actor trying to flood the network with fake nodes.
