I’m interested in doing performance/load testing on relays that I operate. This is partly just for general purposes (i.e. to stress-test infra). It’s also to gauge how taxing each relay is in practice, thereby allowing for better capacity planning.
I had originally planned to use the EntryNodes, ExitNodes, MiddleNodesoptions in a client torrcto create circuits composed entirely of our own nodes, but this doesn’t work. Presumably because the relays are in the same family.
I’m aware of the Research Tools page and this old mailing list thread, but they don’t seem to provide anything suitable for fairly rigorous testing of relays in-place (rather than, say, creating a test network).
Does anyone have any wisdom or guidance to share on this topic?
