I run a couple relays on both Debian and FreeBSD. They have been auto-updating their software (including tor) for a while now, but I noticed they couldn’t update to 0.4.8.13. I then manually tried updating for both systems: all repositories seem up-to-date (which obviously isn’t the case for tor).
I believe what’s causing this may be the key used to verify tor packages: has it been changed lately? If so, where can I fetch it?
I can’t speak to whether or not the keys have been changed, though I don’t think they have. But I can say that 0.4.8.13 has not had Debian or Ubuntu packages released for it. If you want to upgrade to it now, you will have to build it. There is not yet a Debian source package, so you’ll have to build it from generic sources.
It has been working fine for the last 2 versions: the relays would find a new version soon after the release and tor would automatically upgrade.
But since this involves FreeBSD aswell (which has its custom repository: point #2.1 in Tor Project | FreeBSD) I suspect the keys used to verify the packages are not working and thus preventing the update.
Yes, they have auto-updated tonight. It was my bad, I thought that whenever a release would happen, the repos would get updated at the same time.
Thank you for clearing that up
