Increase in Tor relay censorship in Russia

Hi,

More as an fyi, as there are little operators running in russia. I’ve been observing more censorship in my nodes in russia than normal. Specific Tor relay authorities are being blocked, rendering consensus broken on the relays. The relays function okay, but as Tor sees it as “broken” it simply does not get traffic. Suspect the datacenter or dataline is the culprit. Other locations in russia have been fine, most likely as they route differently.

Censorship in Russia? What is it they do not want you to know or see.

This is a rhetorical question only. We all know they do not want you to know that great vodka is also produced in the west.

There now you know.

Hello, could you let me know which of your relays were impacted?
Are you observing similar behavior across the ISPs you are using in Russia?

It seems another relay running on AS216246 was affected too:

Do you remember if the datacenter of this ISP/AS was/is in a specific city in Russia, for example, St. Petersburg?

Hm, that’s very curious.
