Assuming “IDM” is “Internet Download Manager”.
Firstly, I doubt you can achieve significant speed increase with it.
Secondly, it is unknown whether your anonymity is preserved when using IDM through Tor.
With that in mind, try this (I haven’t done this myself though):

  1. Launch the Tor Browser, connect to Tor.
  2. Go to IDM options, open the “Proxy/Socks” tab.
  3. Choose “manual proxy/socks configuration” and set “Proxy server address” to 127.0.0.1 and “Port” to 9150, leave “username” and “password” empty. This is the local address that the tor process listens on.
  4. Go ahead and see if it works.

Using a higher-throughput bridge should increase the probability of getting a higher-throughput circuit, I believe, so yes.
