What’s the proper way to shop on the Tor network? Is it safe to use my real name and address as the delivery initials? I’m not planning on buying anything illegal, just a discounted phone. Can anyone share their experience?
I’m not an expert, but I have bought through Tor before.
Buying will deanonymize you, so I guess it depends on what “safe” means to you. Also, I heard Tor has more potential bad actors along the route your traffic takes which might want to mess or alter it. So you should probably use an up-to-date browser, make sure to never ignore any certificate warnings, always use TLS and perferrably some TLS-only mode, and you shouldn’t buy using a Tor session where you’re not okay with being deanonymized.
(This may lead you to ask, why even bother using Tor to buy things? Tor can still have some benefits like making it harder for the shop to track you, especially your location or using persistent tracking cookies, and it might get you past geo blocks if you have whatever reason to do so.)
