How do I make account on Gitlab?

Hello anon314893516,

Your account has been deactivated for gitlab.torproject.org. You will not be able to:

  • Access Git repositories or the API.

  • Receive any notifications from GitLab.

  • Use slash commands.

To reactivate your account, sign in to GitLab.

Please contact your GitLab administrator if you think this is an error.

I received this email after requesting account, I go to try to sign in, but none of the passwords work (forums, anonticket, gitlab itself I tried all). I then tried to reset password, but no email comes in. Tried requesting gitlab again, but it says username and email already taken? What do I do? I don’t know what is “my GitLab adminitrator” I never had one

Hi. The GitLab administrator is probably the person who is managing the server/instance of gitlab (the Tor Project self-hosts their own GitLab instance), so if you could contact the administrator, they can change a few things with your account. You can report issues with that instance of GitLab using a new account that you’ll create right here: Issues · The Tor Project / TPA / Gitlab · GitLab (or access the site via .onion). You probably can’t create another account with the same username because when you created an account it used up that username space, so you have to specify a different username when creating a new account, but you could probably try creating another account using another email address (the system doesn’t let 2 accounts be on 1 email address, and you can try using a different provider in case that made a problem) After creating that new account,

Also, you can try creating that new account without an identifier by not creating one, but requesting a gitlab account: https://anonticket.torproject.org/user/gitlab-account/create/ (well, if you used one it might’ve caused problems)

Hope that helps.

And after you have that new account, you can maybe create an issue in the gitlab section of the gitlab in the link I sent above about restoring access to your old account, or you can request to delete it. After that (if you picked to create an issue to restore the old account), you can delete the ‘new account‘.
