I am using Debian with Tor 13.0.15 and for some reason I cannot disable noscript extension from the Tor browser. I have connected to a site that did not work well with noscript and would not proceed.
Since noscript is an extension it should always be possible to disable the extension.
That does not answer my question. there are web sites that do not work with noscript and for some reason Tor browser does not allow disabling or removal of an extension which is not part of Tor browser.
NoScript is part of Tor Browser - e.g. it is integrated with the security settings for starters.
If NoScript is causing an issue with a particular website, then there are per site settings (retained for the session only by default) that you can apply/relax to “unbreak”
This is probably not the case. As far as I know there is not kill switch or external dependency in NoScript, which would stop the add-on from working if the maintainers choose to stop supporting it. NoScript is not a Microsoft tool confirming before every start if it is licensed properly or does not work if it can’t reach a specific server to send its metrics.
And it is opensource so everyone can choose to fork and continue to maintain it…
The point is all browsers I know are able to disable if not remove noscript. Why can noscript not be disabled in tor? I have heard users having problems with specific sites because of noscript.
Once again … NoScript is part of Tor Browser - e.g. it is integrated with the security settings for starters.
The point is all browsers I know are able to disable if not remove noscript
Well not now. You know Tor Browser, right? Tor Browser is a fork with code added for NoScript, and in order for that code to work properly, more code was added for NoScript to ensure NoScript could not be disabled or removed.
