[CLOSED]Self check says ORPort is reachable, but I still get the "Your server has not managed to confirm reachability for its ORPort(s) at ***.**.***.***:9001" error

Hi everyone,

I am an experienced linux user but I don’t know anything about networking. I have followed every step on the official relay setup guide and I am using nyx to watch my relay. I am running MX Linux (basically Debian 12 stable) and this is my torrc: ## Configuration file for a typical Tor user## Last updated 9 October 2013 for - Pastebin.com . I have created a rule in my firewall to allow incoming connections in the 9001 port and it’s allowing all outgoing connections. Nyx says that self testing indicates that my relay is reachable from the outside, but it does not say that it is publishing descriptors. It just says “Excellent.” After a while, I get the infamous “Your server has not managed to confirm reachability for its ORPort” error. Any ideas?

Thanks!

You might be behind a NAT and need to port-forward to make the relay accessible from the outside. Use this tool to check for open ports.

Also I noticed you enabled DirPort, have you allowed incoming connection to that aswell?

Ah, it says that none of my ports are open. My ISP does not allow port forwarding without communicating with them. I suppose this is not worth the effort. I really appreciate your response.
