Android Tor Browser from the Guardian Project Repo

on my android device i keep waiting for the new generation browser. i have it through f-droid, it is marked as coming from the guardian project repositories. i had that in the past: the update is noted, it will take days before the file is available. f-droid just waits and waits and declares there is no such file.

i went on the desktop. site. download. android. the link is https://www.torproject.org/download/#android that seems genuine. the link goes to https://support.torproject.org/tormobile/tormobile-7/ which barfs a 404. nice.

went to the guardian project. the link is Tor Browser for Android - Guardian Project . it leads to https://f-droid.org/packages/org.torproject.torbrowser which is also a 404. nice.

so the only way is to install google play and install it from there?

some time in the past 36 hours the problem has been fixed because i have the new tor browser (f-droid, guardian) on my device. it never reaches any sites, so i will have to look into it this week-end.

what was strange was that all those sites were not blocked, i could see the frame, the headers from the site, yet they were all telling me 404. https://www.torproject.org/download/#android now goes to https://support.torproject.org/tor-browser/getting-started/installing/%23android which also gives 404.

there is no change with the guardian project link which leads to the same 404 page.

Please try https://support.torproject.org/tor-browser/getting-started/installing/#android instead. When visiting https://support.torproject.org/tor-browser/getting-started/installing/#android , #android will not be included in HTTP headers, the Tor team might do something wrong.

An F-Droid App Repo doesn’t require a home page to work, please test entry.json or paste them to the F-Droid client.
