It is said that picture replaces 1.000 words, and a video a 1.000.000, so the videos were recorded in a real time so how can end-non-expert users can see for themselves what is working and what is not!
The length of the video materials as evidences is not up to us but to Tor Browsers performing on different OSes and the result is very clear even if you don’t watch every video till the end, and just skip the middle part and watch end’s result.
Let us be more clear: The goal of the testing was to check up the quality of work of the Tor Browser on today’s supported and unsupported platforms, so the testing task was 10 (ten) randomly chosen YouTube videos from 2025 year put as bookmarks in 1 (one) folder named “Test10Video” and trying to open/load all of them at once in the Tor Browser.
Tests were taken in a virtual machines with default recommended hardware preset for each operating system / platform as their ideal environment, with set recommended RAM memory for each as: 2GB for Windows 7 SP1 (x64), 8GB for Windows 11 25H2 (build 26200.8037 from 03 July 2026), and 4GB for Tails v.7.9.1.
To reproduce the testing you should:
- Install VMWare Workstation;
- Create Virtual Machine (VM) for each platform / targeted OS and set RAM memory for each as specified above;
- Install one per one of the targeted OS specified above; and Install VMWare Tools;
- In each VM install the latest supported Tor Browser;

- In Tor Browser press Alt from the keyboard and check: View->Toolbars->Bookmark Toolbar->Always Show;
6.1. Right-click on the Bookmark Toolbar and click on “Add Folder…” and in “Name” write “Test10Video”;
6.2. Put all 10 YouTube videos open tabs in the bookmark folder “Test10Video”;
- Close the Tor Browser;
- Start counting/measuring the time needed for testing the following:
8.1. Open Tor Browser and connect;
8.2. Right-click on the bookmark folder “Test10Video” and choose “Open All Bookmarks”; 8.3. Count/Measure the time needed for all 10 (ten) video tabs to be fully loaded and to be ready for playing;
8.4. When all tabs end loading with shown specific video Title on each of them, and shown specific thumbnail image and with shown YouTube Play button on each of them is complete, close the Tor Browser from the X in its right corner.
The test is finished, and the counted/measured time for complete opening/loading all of the videos and closing Tor Browser (which in most cases is not right away) is the result of the quality of work of Tor Browser on each platform, at least for the YouTube service which was selected for our testing as one of the most used Internet services available worldwide - meaning - is not blocked by any Tor relay.
And what we expect?
- At least all new versions of Tor Browser for any platform on a better hardware to perform equal or much better than the old versions, and how the things look at the moment that wouldn’t gonna happen, so at least what we expect is that you really can do as Tor Developer Team is to continue to insert new Firefox’s ESR 115 security releases with security-only updates in to the Tor Browser 13.5.x legacy channel produce chain accordingly with Mozilla’s supporting plans, as you stated before.
P.S. When we speak about using old versions on legacy OS on real hardware in the past, we can say that we have tested bookmark folders with more then 80 (eighty) video tabs which were opened/loaded and ready for playing in only 5 (five) minutes!!!
