For over a year I’ve been unable to log in to Facebook through their onion site using Tor Browser.
The first page loads (often with a “You’re temporarily blocked” message, first image below) but I can submit username and password and click the “Log In” button.
After clicking “Log In” the page goes blank and then briefly (0.5 seconds?) flashes a Facebook logo in the middle of the browser window and a “from Meta” text towards the bottom of the page (second image below; this is so fast I haven’t been able to screenshot it, so instead I’ve just used a camera). After that the page goes blank again, and stops loading (third image below). At that point the URL begins with https://www.facebookwkhpilnemxj7asaniu7vnjjbiltxjqhye3mhbshg7kx5tfyd.onion/two_step_verification/authentication/?encrypted_context=
This is happening on Debian using Tor Browser version 15.0.6 (but it’s been going on for over a year with different versions) set to “Standard” browser security level.
To me it looks like the two step authentication isn’t working when using Tor Browser.
