Tails OS - UTC vs GMT

It’s really not that complicated; if you live in an area that explicitly uses GMT (like, say, Greenwich) then it should say “GMT” — anything else would be wrong (and potentially offensive apparently), — and otherwise if you use UTC+0, then just show that. If there are other timezones with no offset, then naturally they should be shown properly as well (as in, instead of UTC+0, it should show the timezone Tails is actually configured to use).

I asked some AI this question:
Why do web servers still use GMT in their headers

The answer:
Web servers still use GMT in their HTTP headers because the HTTP specification requires timestamps to be expressed in GMT. This ensures every server and client worldwide interprets dates consistently, avoiding timezone ambiguity and making caching and validation reliable.

You’re the one dragging the conversation and keep misrepresenting others’ opinions. I’m all for replacing GMT with UTC, I just don’t think it’s a good idea to just remove GMT without adding UTC there, because that would make it more difficult for some people not living in UTC+0 timezones to use Tails.
If all you can do is not reading what others says while keep treating others as hostile adversaries, may I suggests you take a break from this forum.

At the very least, I hope we can all agree that displaying a timestamp without a timezone is useless — or at least worse than showing a technically correct but culturally incorrect one.

Then please do us a favor and next time be precise and say for clarification that you agree to use UTC instead of GMT.

I agree with this completely. Lets put this to rest or it will never end.

I did, all I have ever been objecting to is “removing GMT without adding UTC”:
