Poll: Should the default search engine be noai.duckduckgo.com?

There has been a short talk about whether Tor Browser should use the noai page as the default search engine in the tor-browser-dev channel.

Arguments against AI features enabled on default include increased environmental and sociopolitical impacts by data centers, and possible privacy implications (this last one is yet to be objectively analyzed).

Arguments in favor are, that it can be helpful and sometimes saves time, considering new connections over Tor can have high latency and pages can block you.

I’m not going to lie, I’m not impartial on this, but I would like to know what other people on this forum think.

I’m not sure how to pull of this poll, maybe react with:

(I know this sounds like baiting to get likes , but I’ve not found the feature to post a poll like in /t/poll-whats-your-default-search-engine/8184, maybe it is because of my low trust level?)

You need another symbol for impartial which I am. DuckDuckGo is my default on my non Tor browser. I know when to use the noai, ai, and default. On default you can simply ignore the AI generated result.

I find the AI features to be helpful. I think DuckDuckGo’s approach to AI (Search Assist) is level headed and nonintrusive. Furthermore they sometimes save me time, considering new connections over Tor can have high latency and pages can block you.

A thumbs up reaction would appear to be in support of your post, so I leave this reply instead.
