Mouse not working immediately after updating to Tails 7.4.2 today

I’ve tried rebooting, switching USB ports, and I tried to enter troubleshooting mode but troubleshooting mode didn’t start.

I’m not able to obtain any other details because I am not able to start the OS.

PS I have also booted into other OSs - Ubuntu, and TailsOS 7.4.1 (on another thumb drive) - and all USB devices including the mouse work normally.

Resolved. I was limited to using TailsOS 7.4.1 and Ubuntu for a couple of days. When I booted my computer this morning, I thought I’d give 7.4.2 a try. It started OK, with mouse functioning, but then my Tor Browser bookmarks toolbar wouldn’t start (which has happened before). I rebooted, and now TailsOS 7.4.2 is working.

Yay.

¯_(ツ)_/¯

Please have your mouse and keyboards connected before booting Tails. Tails contains a security measure that prevents new USB devices from being attached when the screen is locked or before the start screen configuration is completed.

Thanks. The mouse and keyboard had not been disconnected for years until I first booted into 7.4.2 and the mouse wasn’t working, and I thought I’d try other USB ports. I don’t know if the keyboard stopped working or not. It seems to have “fixed itself”, just like installing persistent software, and Tor Browser bookmarks toolbar sometimes don’t work.

Mine is not resolved. After several months (and versions) working flawlessly, this latest release doesn’t work. No mouse, keyboard, and any sort of input working. I have a wired mouse and keyboard, a usb mouse and keyboard and the laptop keyboard and trackpad. All connected at the same time, like forever being connected. This new version does not recognize any of my peripherals. i have to either plug out the usb or hold the power button to continue. I’ve tried every day several times with no avail. Sad thing is I will lose my persistent storage. Is there a way I can download from your website version 7.4.1?

Please advise. Thank you!!

I fixed it! Turned out it was a faulty update! I installed the system in a new usb and then cloned it into the old one. That way I got it working again and I was able to preserve my persistent storage.

I am a happy camper now!

Thanks!
