Looking for working Tor bridges (not meek or snowflake) and help with proxy on macOS (Telegram important; situation in Russia)

Hi. Due to recent blocking in Russia there are very few working bridges — I need help.

  1. Please share working bridge lines (any except meek and snowflake).

  2. I need guidance to set up a local proxy on macOS via Tor Browser or alternatives (torsocks, proxychains, system‑wide). It’s important that Telegram works through it — I tried this guide: https://forum.torproject.org/t/telegram-tor-how-to-bypass-russian-block-on-telegram-with-tor/21497 (Telegram → Settings → Data and Storage → Use Proxy → Add proxy → SOCKS5, Server: localhost, Port: 9150), but Telegram stays stuck connecting. Please suggest working torrc/configuration and commands for macOS and note what to check so Telegram can connect.

Thanks in advance.

We do not share bridges lines publicly, but you can get bridges

  1. on our bridges website.
  2. by email bridges@torproject.org from a Gmail or Riseup email address.
  3. via Telegram. Send a message to @GetBridgesBot on Telegram. Tap on ‘Start’ or write /start in the chat. To get bridges, type /obfs4 or /webtunnel. Copy the bridge addresses.

You can also contact our user support team on Telegram - @TorProjectSupportBot or by email - frontdesk@torproject.org

Hello — thanks for the pointers. A few quick clarifications before I send a full request to frontdesk@torproject.org:

  1. Will frontdesk@torproject.org reply to individual enquiries like mine?

  2. In replies to such enquiries, do you provide guidance or materials about bridges for the Russia region (note: I am NOT asking anyone to send bridge lines directly in this message)?

  3. Do responses typically include whether it’s possible / supported to use the Tor Browser bundle on macOS as a local SOCKS/HTTP proxy for system/app traffic (e.g. to get Telegram working), or do you only give general setup pointers and refer to other channels?

Context: due to recent blocking in Russia I tested ~200 bridges from official channels and only ~2–3 remain stable; Telegram fails to connect when pointed to localhost:9150 as per the guide at https://forum.torproject.org/t/telegram-tor-how-to-bypass-russian-block-on-telegram-with-tor/21497.

Thank you.

frontdesk@torproject.org is human-powered email, so if you need instructions for Russia - just write us about that, and you will get instructions in Russian and in English (bridges included). If you need help with troubleshooting - just tell that. And you will get link to the website where you can get Tor Browser for MacOS. Our user support speaks Russian as well, поэтому если на русском будет удобнее общаться - пишите на русском.
