How to extract my bookmarks from my "places.sqlite" Tor Browser backup file?

Hello Tor Browser (TB) enthusiasts,

I found just now that TB automatically stores my bookmarks into its database file titled places.sqlite
Question: How do I extract my bookmarks from my places.sqlite backup file?

I am asking this question above because, on that device, I did not export my bookmarks to HTML or Backup format. Then, I reinstalled a fresh TB. Which automatically deleted all my bookmarks. The good news is that I do have plenty of backups of my places.sqlite file. Which includes my bookmarks. As you know, TB is able to import bookmarks from either an HTML file or Backup file. Assuming those files were created by TB. My understanding it that TB is not able to import my bookmarks from the places.sqlite file. Thus, my question up above.

It should be possible to replace the places.sqlite files in the new tor browser installation to restore bookmarks.

You can also use DB Browser for SQLite to browse the sqlite database file. Your bookmark should be saved somewhere.

I found resolution for this. I simply launched a temporary second Tor Browser with my backup places.sqlite file. Then, used the 2nd TB to export my bookmarks. Next, used my 1st TB to import my bookmarks. Joy

Below is the same as above. But with details for those interested.

Steps:

  1. Install a new and temporary second (2nd) Tor Browser (TB)
  2. Use the 2nd TB, replace its places.sqlite file with the places.sqlite that include the bookmarks that need exporting.
  3. Use 2nd TB, use Bookmark manager window, export bookmarks
  4. Use first (1st) TB, import bookmarks
  5. Delete 2nd TB. Resume with 1st TB. Which included the restored bookmarks. Joy
