[Bug report] Clicking Middle Mouse Button to scroll doesn't work on Tor Browser 15.0.10. Works on 15.0.9

  • Windows 10

  • 15.0.10

  • Safest or Safer or Standard. Doesn’t matter.

  • Steps to reproduce the bug

    1. Find a long scrollable webpage, like a page on the Tor Project forum.
    2. Click middle mouse button.
    3. Move your mouse up and down to scroll. It won’t scroll.
    4. Expected result - it should scroll.
    5. Checked previous version 15.0.9 and it scrolls.
  • See Attached videos of it working on 15.0.9 and not working on 15.0.10

NOTE: The two images I’ve posted above are animated webp. Open each of them in a new tab to see them properly.

Tried your steps and it scrolls here even with that black popup when you check the version but no video is there.

It’s the two animated webp I’ve linked. I shouldn’t have called them a video.

Also are you sure you weren’t able to reproduce the bug? I’m not talking about merely scrolling. I’m particularly referring to scrolling using the throbber that shows up when you click the middle mouse button(scroll wheel click) .

If it isn’t too much trouble could you post a similar video/animated gif/webp with the Tor Browser version = 15.0.10 , like I have?

Thanks.

I just tried it on a Windows 10 Tor 15.0.7 and it works OK. Then I changed it to 15.0.10 and works also.

Does the middle wheel click scroll thing work in Edge or Notepad? It should. Not sure what activates the scroll thing. The OS or app.

Is your Tor vanilla and from this site. Try deleting the Tor Browser folder and a fresh install from this site. Can’t hurt.

Edited Later:
To your recent edit about the mouse wheel button. Yes this is exactly what I am talking about: click mouse wheel then move mouse up or down to scroll. Have been using this for years.

That windows 10 is a different PC which I keep. I’m on 11 as I type this.

I did about:config then searched for middle
They are all false except

widget.gtk.middle-click-enabled
browser.tabs.opentabfor.middleclick

It’s now working again in 15.0.11

Thanks for the help @BobbyB
