Arti is our ongoing project to create a next-generation Tor implementation in Rust. We're happy to announce the latest release, Arti 1.5.0.

Arti 1.5.0 continues development on important client features, including [Counter Galois Onion](https://eprint.iacr.org/2025/583) encryption, [Conflux](https://spec.torproject.org/proposals/329-traffic-splitting.html), [flow control and congestion control](https://spec.torproject.org/proposals/324-rtt-congestion-control.txt), and onion service [proof of work](https://spec.torproject.org/proposals/362-update-pow-control-loop.html). It also includes significant backend work for Arti relay support.

Additionally, this release [mitigates](https://gitlab.torproject.org/tpo/core/arti/-/merge_requests/3141) a [longstanding bug](https://gitlab.torproject.org/tpo/core/arti/-/issues/2079) that could prevent Arti clients from bootstrapping.

Arti 1.5.0 increases our MSRV (Minimum Supported Rust Version) to 1.85, in accordance with our [MSRV policy](https://gitlab.torproject.org/tpo/core/arti/#minimum-supported-rust-version).
